About Immunizations

As a parent, the most important thing to you is your child’s health and wellness. It’s normal and healthy for you to be concerned about what you’re putting into your child’s body. We share your concern and your child’s safety is at the heart of Alberta’s immunization program.

Think of immunity as your child's armour against disease. Immunization prompts your child’s natural immune response to disease, allowing your child to safely develop antibodies against the disease, before being exposed to it. When you immunize your child, you’re also helping to build your community’s defence against diseases like:

  • Diphtheria
  • Hib (Haemophilus Influenza Type B)
  • Hepatitis B
  • HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
  • Influenza
  • Measles
  • Meningococcal Disease
  • Mumps
  • Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
  • Pneumococcal Disease
  • Polio
  • Rotavirus
  • Rubella
  • Tetanus
  • Chickenpox

Whether it's a simple question about the childhood immunization schedule or what to expect after your child gets immunized, uncertainty about the real risk of diseases, or concerns about immunization safety, myhealth.alberta.ca has the info you need.
